Prioritizing Safety: The health and safety of students is of utmost importance in our activities. As an accredited program, Long Lake meets rigorous guidelines established and overseen by an external governing body, the NCA commission on school accreditation. Long Lake's facilities and safety procedures are inspected regularly.
First-Aid Trained: Long Lake's staff is certified annually in first aid and CPR. We carry first aid backpacks on all excursions beyond the campus buildings, and first-aid cabinets are readily available for all on-campus activities. The first aid kits include epi-pens for immediate response to bee- and wasp-sting allergies, along with equipment for tending all illnesses and injuries that our staff is able to treat.
Preparation: As can only be expected with six thousand kids in residence at LLCC every year, we do encounter medical situations occasionally. The vast majority are minor, requiring disinfectant, small bandages, or occasionally pain-reliever. Major emergencies very rare, but we continue to prepare for them.
Local Medical Facilities: Excellent medical treatment is available at McGregor, a 15 minute drive away, and Aitkin, a 25 minute drive. Emergency personnel, when called, can arrive in less than 15 minutes.
Health Forms: In preparation for Long Lake's summer program, you will fill out a health form for your child. It will include all information necessary to access treatment.
We do everything in our power to make sure a trip to Long Lake is a healthy, enriching experience for all visitors.
